Sylvia BLACKSHEAR

President (Founder)

Sylvia Blackshear is the President and Chief Executive of Morris Insurance Services and Consulting, LLC (“MISC”).

In addition to managing the operations of MISC, she personally partners with clients to help analyze the many ways to resolve regulatory risks and surplus lines tax filing issues.  Sylvia held several positions of increasing responsibility for two of the largest wholesale brokerage companies in the insurance industry specializing in insurance and surplus lines regulatory compliance. She also worked in risk management for seven years.  Sylvia graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Park University majoring in social psychology and management. Formerly, she served as a Business Continuity Officer, Emergency Response Chaplain and a member of the Harris County Citizens Corp – Community Emergency Response Team (“CERT”).  She also served on the Texas Independent Insurance Agents Emergency Response Team.  Sylvia enjoys hiking, relaxing with a good book, and spending time with friends and family.

TERI BLACKSHEAR

Assistant Vice President of Operations

Teri Blackshear is the Assistant Vice President of Operations at Morris Insurance Services and Consulting (“MISC”) where she manages the overall operations including the MISC team. 

She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Park University with a focus in management and human resources. During her college career, she spent several summers interning in surplus lines and insurance, ran a pet sitting business, and worked as a claims adjuster in workers’ compensation insurance. She also served as a member of the Harris County Citizens Corp – Community Emergency Response Team (“CERT”) and a volunteer at her local pet shelter. In her spare time, Teri is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
